Who has breast augmentation?

• Each year, over 300,000 women in the United States choose to have breast augmentation. Our patients range in age from 18 to 63; many are young women in their 20s who want to enhance their body image, whether it is due to underdeveloped breasts or loss of breast size after weight loss; many others are mothers in their 30s who have had children and lost breast volume after childbirth.

Who will perform my cosmetic breast surgery?

• Your surgery will be performed only by Dr. Ted Eisenberg, a double board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic breast surgery. He has more than 20 years experience and has helped over 4000 women. The surgery is not done by another breast surgeon or by a resident.

Where is the surgery performed?

• Dr. Eisenberg performs all surgery at Nazareth Hospital in Northeast Philadelphia, one of the finest hospitals in the region. You will be in the safety of the operating room, cared for by experienced and competent professionals.

How soon can I have consultation and breast surgery?

• Patients can generally be seen for a free initial consultation and have surgery within two to four weeks of their first phone call. Because we specialize in cosmetic breast surgery - because this is all that we do - we can work to accommodate your schedule.

Will I be able to breast feed after getting breast implants?

• In most cases, a breast augmentation will not interfere with breastfeeding, because Dr. Eisenberg does not disrupt milk ducts when placing the implants. However, not all women are naturally able to breast feed, whether or not they have plastic surgery.

How soon can I get back to work and to the gym?

• More than 90 percent of our patients are back to work on the fifth day, if they work in an office setting, longer if their work requires lifting, pushing or pulling. Patients can generally return to aerobics in two to three weeks and upper body weightlifting in six weeks.

When can I tan after breast surgery?

• Patients can tan - either outdoors or at a tanning salon - a couple of weeks after surgery providing there is no black and blue area and no skin numbness. (Both of these conditions are rare.) It's necessary to use a sun block with at least a 15 SPF. Ultraviolet light from the sun or from a tanning salon could make the scar red longer, but sun block helps minimize this.

Breast Augmentation

• Breast enlargement, or augmentation mammaplasty, is a cosmetic surgery procedure in which breast implants are placed behind the chest muscle to increase breast size. The breast implants are filled with saline, a salt-water solution in the same concentration found in the body, or with silicone gel.
  
  By using the newest implants and pioneering surgical techniques - and by drawing on his extensive experience - Dr. Eisenberg creates soft and natural-looking breasts that are in proportion to your body.

Breast Lift

• A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that raises and reshapes breasts that have sagged from pregnancy and nursing, from significant weight change, or from the natural process of aging. A breast lift restores the breast to a more youthful look by repositioning the nipple at a higher position and removing excess skin. When the remaining skin is tightened, it creates a natural sling – like a new bra – to support the breasts.

Breast Lift With Augmentation

• While a cosmetic breast lift can raise and reshape breasts that have sagged, it cannot make breasts bigger and fuller. Likewise, breast implants alone won't do the job of a lift. But when breast implants are inserted in conjunction with a mastopexy, breasts will be lifted and increased in firmness and size. In his experience with over 4,000 cosmetic breast surgeries, Dr. Eisenberg reports that about half of his breast lift patients also get breast implants.
